Water line breaks in Roachdale

Wednesday, August 16, 2006

The town of Roachdale experienced a little water problem after a water line broke Tuesday.

According to Roachdale Water Plant Operator Greg Poole, the house that sits on the corner of North Meridian Street and U.S. Hwy. 236 had been experiencing low water pressure.

When crews blew the line to relieve some of the pressure, it weakened the water service line, and caused it to break.

This line runs under Hwy. 236 and connects to the main water line.

Poole told the BannerGraphic Tuesday evening that the break happened around 10 a.m., and crews had been working on it since 3 p.m.

He also said that they had crews working on the new gas lines, and they had to be sent home once a crew arrived to fix the water line.

Hoppers Septic and Excavating, Advance, arrived to handle the work. "They're a good bunch of guys," said Poole.

Poole was quite thankful that they did not have to shut the town's water down.

Work to the water service line was completed Tuesday evening.
