Heritage Lake gets $18,000 donation for rescue boat

Friday, September 15, 2006

Putnam County Prosecutor Tim Bookwalter has donated $18,000 out of the Asset Forfeiture Fund to the Floyd Township Fire Department for a search and rescue boat on Heritage Lake.

"The fire department approached me about the huge need for a fire and rescue boat on Heritage Lake," said Bookwalter. "Right now there is no rescue boat on the lake for accidents and drowning."

The Sheriff's Department will also be able to use the boat for any criminal matters, such as the recent break-ins to boats on the lake.

"The money use to purchase this comes from the moneys seized from drug dealers by the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, no taxpayer money will be used," said Bookwalter.
