NHPS foul Plugs, 22-1

SPEEDWAY -- The North Putnam High School baseball team picked up a big win Tuesday, closing out its series with West Central Conference foe Speedway with a 22-1 road win.

The Sparkplugs scored the first run of the game and their only run in the first inning.

The Cougars scored four in the second inning, four in the third, eight in the fourth and three runs in the fifth for the final.

The Cougars banged out 17 hits with Jordan Berry, Shelby Reed, J.T. Francis and Tyler Trent leading the way with three each. Kyle Rooker and Luke Woolums had two hits while Brayden Dahlstrom had one hit.

Kyle Rooker pitched all five innings for the Cougars, striking out six batters while only giving up one hit and one earned run.

The Cougars are back in action in Thursday when they host Rockville at 4:30 p.m.

Tiger Cubs overcome Rox

ROCKVILLE --The Greencastle High School baseball team buried the Rockville Rox,7-0, Tuesday.

The Tiger Cubs scored their first two runs in the second after Erick Burgeson reached base on an error and Chris Pingleton jacked one out of right field. Greencastle added four more runs in the fourth inning after Johnny Pasho and Zach Remsburg singled and Micheal Richardson doubled brining them across the plate. Derrick Patterson then hit a two-run shot. Pasho scored the Tiger Cubs last run on Remsburg's single.

The Tiger Cubs totaled nine hits with Patterson and Remsburg leading the way with two hits each. Richardson, Burgeson, Pasho, Joe Downing and Pingleton all had one hit.

Burgeson went the distance for Greencastle, striking out nine and giving up three hits.

Greencastle is back in action on they travel to South Vermillion for a 5:30 p.m. game.

Clovedale defeats Monrovia

The Cloverdale High School baseball team moved to 2-3 with its 11-4 win over Monrovia Tuesday at home.

Cloverdale scored two in the first, five in the second, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.

The Bulldogs scored one in the first, one in the second, one in the fourth and one in the sixth.

The Clovers totaled nine hits in their game with Monrovia.
