In the case of a tie for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference football championship, a new tiebreaker format has been recently announced. The ruling comes as a result of the canceled Sept. 24 game between DePauw and Trinity.

The SCAC clarified that the team with the best winning percentage against conference opponents will be crowned champions and receive an automatic bid to the National Championship.

In the case of two teams tying for conference championship, each team will be declared co-champions. If the two teams played each other in the regular season, the winner in that game will receive the bid to the National Championship. If the two tying teams didn't play each other, the team with the fewest overall losses will advance to the NCAA Championship.

If their is no head-to-head result from conference play and the teams have the same number overall losses, then the percentage of the team's opponents overall record will be used as criteria.

In the case of three teams tying for conference championship, a coin flip will be used to determine the team advancing to the NCAA Championship.
