LIZTON -- The North Putnam wrestling team picked up a win at Tri-West Tuesday, 42-36.

The Cougars were led by early wins from C.J. Spencer and Cody Newlin at the 125-pound and 145-pound weight classes, respectively.

A.J. Brewer earned a first-period pin at the 152-pound weight class, while Alex Lanee pinned Tri-West's Nathan Joseph in the second period of the 160-pound class.

"Alex Lanee was the big hero," North Putnam Head Coach Kenny Kerns said. "If not for him pinning his man, we would not have won."

Tri-West was forced to forfeit the next three matches to Jim Davis, Levi Elliot and Jacob Stigall. And Emmett Boruff's second-period pin in the 275-pound weight class sealed the North Putnam, 42-36, victory.

Newlin and Boruff are both 6-0, while Davis moves to 5-0 on the season. Brewer, Elliot and Spencer are all 5-1.
