Haltom, Blaydes playing well in college

Tuesday, November 28, 2006

College life seems to be agreeing with a pair of area graduates.

Cloverdale High School alum Chase Haltom and North Putnam High School graduate Laura Blaydes each had successful outings on the collegiate basketball courts in recent games.

Haltom, who attends Wabash College in Crawfordsville, led the Little Giants in scoring in a Nov. 21 loss to Hanover at home.

The CHS grad scored a team-high 21 points in Wabash's 90-85 loss to Hanover.

Haltom currently ranks second on the Little Giants' roster in scoring, averaging an even 13.0 points per game.

The Wabash freshman averaged over 24 points per game for the Clovers.

Wabash is currently 1-2 on the season and will be in action tonight when it visits DePauw for a 7:30 p.m. start.

Blaydes is a student at Danville Area Community College and is on the roster for the women's basketball team.

The NPHS graduate was one of four DACC players to score in double figures Nov. 9 when Danville defeated Illinois Valley Community College on the road, 90-85.

Blaydes had 10 points in the contest. She paced the Cougars in scoring during her senior season last year, averaging 16.4 points per game.

The Jaguars are 3-2 on the season and will play their next game on the road today at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Ill.
