Greencastle girls fall to Rox

ROCKVILLE -- Greencastle's girls varsity basketball team fell to 0-10 on the season with a loss on the road to Rockville Thursday night, 41-35.

Poor shooting plagued the Tiger Cubs in the first half and let to them looking at a 24-13 halftime deficit to the Rox.

In the second half, Greencastle got back on track, hanging tight with Rockville in third and heading into the fourth with a 14 point deficit.

In fourth quarter, the Tiger Cubs mounted a charge but fell short losing.

Greencastle outscored the Rox 17-9 in the quarter and were led by Lauren Robertson as she scored nine of her team-high 14 points in the quarter. Fisher also contributed big by scoring six points on a pair of long-range bombs.

The Tiger Cubs shot 2-for-20 from the floor in the first half and only managed to score five points in the first quarter. Tiger Cub high scorers Robertson and Fisher were held to only six points total in the half. Solid play from Olivia Miller and Becky Grivas helped GHS stay in the game with four and two points.

Rockville was led in scoring by Kieran McMullen with a game-high 15 points. She was followed up by Hannah Flaurr with nine points and Mollie Burgess with eight points.

Greencastle's junior varsity team fell to the Rockville Rox by the narrow margin of 2 points, 32-30.

Greencastle will try to secure their first win of the season as they host Northview next Monday at 8 p.m.
