Charlie L. "Toby" Slicer, 65, Quincy, died Monday at Putnam County Hospital.

Born in South Tunnell, Tenn., he was the son of Charlie and Rosie (McCloud) Slicer.

He had been owner/ operator of J&S Contractors.

He married Mary Brown on July 19, 1963. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Carol Heidrick and husband David, Spencer, Deborah Young and husband Scott, Quincy, and Patricia Slicer, Quincy; son Charlie L. Slicer Jr. and wife Robin, Quincy; two sisters, Margaret Brown and husband E.C., Indianapolis, and Trudy Houston and husband Robert, Indianapolis; brother Steve Slicer, Alabama; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Jackson, and brothers Roy, Clice, Pat, Ray and William J. "Ted" Slicer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with Rev. John Nees officiating. Burial will be in Hudson Hill Cemetery, Gosport.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday.
