CLOVERDALE -- Hannah Monnett scored 25 points to lead the Cloverdale High School girls' basketball team by South Vermillion on Saturday, 65-43.

"Hannah had a nice game for us," Cloverdale coach Bruce Cook said. "We really played well. I think the girls are playing with confidence."

The Clovers managed a 14-8 lead after the first quarter and proceded to score 17 points in each of the remaining three quarters while limiting the Wildcats to 35 points in the final three periods.

Cook said the Clovers played a man-to-man defense, something he said really benefitted forward Kristen Schroer.

"I think that really utilizes her athleticism," Cook said.

Cloverdale was whistled for 20 fouls while South Vermillion was tagged for 35.

"We got in a little bit of foul trouble," Cook said. "It was a game that was called real close."

Cloverdale hit only 23-of-55 free throws in the victory but South Vermillion was 13-for-28.

"It was one of those games where everything was a slow build. There were no real runs. We up together a nice game," Cook said.

In addition to Monnett's 25, Ashley Koosman had 16 while Schroer finished with seven. South Vermillion was paced by Caitlin Phillips' eight.

The Clovers are 9-7 overall this season and 2-1 in the West Central Conference. They will host North Putnam on Friday at 6 p.m.
