DPU women set for Trinity, Southwestern

Midway through the season, the DePauw University women's basketball squad sits on top of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference standings with Hendrix.

The Tigers and Hendrix are both 14-2 overall and 4-1 in league play.

Oglethorpe is also 4-1 in the conference this season.

The Tigers face Trinity and Southwestern at home this weekend and will take on Trinity Friday. DPU faces Southwestern Saturday.

Trinity is 9-5 overall and 3-2 in league play while Southwestern is 9-6 and 2-3.

Trinity defeated Southwestern on Saturday, 74-59.

Trinity is paced by Meaghan Scholbe offensively. Scholbe averages 11.7 points per game.

In addition, K. Prato Matthews tallies 9.6 while Tierney Hughes averages 9.3 and Lauren Andrews averages 9.2.

The balanced-offensive attack scores close to 74 points per game (73.9) while limiting opponents to 67.2 per contest.

Scholbe leads the team overall this year, but Jennifer Wieman leads the team in SCAC action, averaging 12.5 points per game in two contests.

In contrast, the Tigers are averaging 81.1 points per game while limiting opponents to an average of 55.6.

In only an average of 23.2 minutes per contest, Liz Bondi paces the Tigers on offense with an average of 14.5 points. Cassie Pruzin also averages 10.1 points.

The Tigers are 6-0 at home this season while Trinity is 2-4 in road games.

On Saturday, the Tigers will host the 9-6 Southwestern team.

Southwestern averages 66.7 points per game while giving up only 59.9 points.

Offensively, Kendal George leads the team with an average of 17.8 points per game while Natasha Azizi averages 11.3.

Southwestern has been outrebounded by opponents this season, 581-572. DePauw, on the other hand, has outrebounded its opponents this season, 641-479.

In addition, Southwestern is 3-3 in road games this season.

The Tigers' game against Trinity is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Friday. They will play host to Southwestern on Saturday at 6 p.m. as well.
