SPEEDWAY -- The Greencastle High School wrestling squad picked up another victory Tuesday, defeating conference rival Speedway on the road, 66-12.

GHS coach Russ Hesler said Nate Kelly (103), Ryan Gillespie (119) and Kyle Johnson (130) all competed well Tuesday.

"They have really improved," Hesler said.

The Tiger Cubs managed only two losses in Tuesday's match. Nolan Lewis (112), Tommy Downing (125), Johnson, Logan Campbell (140), Ty Buchanan (145), Jesse Ford (152), Chris Pingleton (160), Robert Bittles (171), Kyle Buchanan (189), and Michael Rumley (215) all picked up pin victories.

The Tiger Cubs will compete against Southmont on Jan. 25 before participating in sectional competition.

Cougars get victory

At Marshall Tuesday, the North Putnam wrestling squad picked up a 36-24 win over Turkey Run.

North Putnam earned six wins Tuesday evening. Bren Donaldson picked up a forfeit at 130 pounds while Kenny Quisenberry had a first-period pin at 140.

Darr Boruff also won by forfeit at 160 pounds while Alex Lance (171), Jacob Stigall (189) and Emmett Boruff (heavyweight) all won with pins in the first round.

The Cougars will compete against South Vermillion at home today.

Eagles, Clovers compete

Both South Putnam and Cloverdale wrestling competed Tuesday, but results were not known at press time.

The Eagles faced Tri-West at home while Cloverdale played host to Southmont.

South Putnam takes part in the North Montgomery Invitational Saturday while the Clovers' junior varsity will compete against Southmont on Jan. 25.
