Oliver S. "Ollie" Daniels, 78, Crawfordsville, died Wednesday at St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville.

Born in Putnam County, he was the son of Lester and Opal (Cochran) Daniels.

His first wife, Margaret L. Walters, preceded him in death in 1972. He married Rachel Templeton on Nov. 21, 1986, and she survives.

A U.S. Army veteran serving from 1952-53, he worked 30 years at Fishero & Fishero. He was also a carrier for the Journal Review in Crawfordsville for 14 years and worked with the State Convention of Baptists.

He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church and Moose Lodge, both in Crawfordsville. As a child, he attended Cataract Schools.

Additional survivors include his daughters, Cathy Mahoy, New Palestine, Terri White and husband Leonard, Elizabethtown, Ky., and Cindy Hooley, Ladoga; a brother, Charlie Daniels, Waveland; three step-daughters, Carmella Mahayla and Marie Cook, both of California, and Bonita Demaree, Crawfordsville; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters, and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, with Rev. Tony Roe officiating. Burial with military service will be at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery in New Market.

Visitation is noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
