B. Eileen (Scobee) Williams, 97, Greencastle, died Sunday at Asbury Towers.

She was the daughter of Daniel Clarence and Katie (Howlett) Scobee.

Before retirement, she had been a social worker in Saginaw, Mich., a clerk in the welfare department in White Plains, N.Y., and a clerk in the Scarsdale (N.Y.) National Bank. She had delivered homebound meals in Greencastle for four years and was a member of the RSVP program. She was elected vice president of the Council on Aging and Disabled and served as a temporary director of the Senior Center. She was appointed director of AARP Chapter 1303 in 1989 for a two-year term, and received a 1990 National Community Service Award from AARP. She was also a member of the Putnam County Hospital Guild, the executive board of the Council on Aging, and was a member of the advisory council of the West Central Indiana Economic Development District.

She married Kenneth Williams on May 15, 1930. He died in 1983.

Surviving are sons Keith Lynn Williams, Rockville, and George Gill Williams, Tilton, N.H.; daughter Carol Ann Verbecky, Draper, Utah; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Graveside services will be conducted at a later date.

Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, is handling arrangements.
