Brown Bag program features Holocaust

At noon Thursday, April 12, Julia Bruggemann, associate professor of history at DePauw University, will present a Brown Bag program on The Jewish Museum Berlin and the new Holocaust memorial, also in Berlin.

Bruggemann has just returned from three months in Berlin, with pictures. According to architect Daniel Libeskind's website, The Jewish Museum Berlin is "a museum which explicitly thematises and integrates, for the first time in post-war Germany, the history of the Jews in Germany and the repercussions of the Holocaust."

The Holocaust memorial, designed by U.S. architect Peter Eisenman, divided opinion so strongly that it was approved only in 1999.

Participants can take a lunch. Beverages and dessert provided. All library programs are free.
