Mary E. Hale, 93, Frankfort, died Friday.

Born in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Harvey and Ursula (McGaughey) Hale.

She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and Butler University and received her master's degree in education from the University of Wisconsin. She attended Purdue University, Indiana State University and Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn., and Indiana University.

She taught at Roachdale Elementary and Riley Elementary in Frankfort, retiring in 1977.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Lambda Theta, Psi Iota Xi, Clinton County Retired Teachers Association, Indiana Retired Teachers Association and National Retired Teachers Association. She served as a volunteer for Mental Health Association, Pink Ladies, American Red Cross and the health care center at Wesley Manor.

Survivors include a nephew, two great-nieces, a niece, a great-nephew, and a great-great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and two sisters-in-law.

Services will be private, but a celebration of life service will be conducted at a date still to be determined. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Goodwin Funeral Home, Frankfort, is in charge of arrangements.
