Shuman takes checkers at Lincoln Park Speedway

Ray Humphrey took the checkered flag for the first time this season on Saturday at Lincoln Park.

With USAC traveling out to Iowa over the weekend, several traveling teams remained in Indiana to compete against Lincoln Park Speedway's regulars on Saturday night.

Casey Shuman took advantage of some feature event misfortune from Jon Stanbrough to score a sprint car victory in his PRC Chassis/Foxco, 4-Sale ride.

Stanbrough posted a dominating heat race victory and chased down last week's winner, Jon Siscoe, just past the halfway mark in the main event. But as he entered lapped traffic, Stanbrough would tangle with Kenny Carmichael Jr. coming off turn two.

While holding off a determined Siscoe on the bottom, Stanbrough was caught with nowhere to go when he caught Carmichael exiting the turn. The resulting contact caused Stanbrough to spin and further down the straightaway, Siscoe's night concluded when he flipped in turn three.

Stanbrough was able to restart but with few laps remaining, he was only able to move back to the top 10.

Shuman meanwhile maintained the top spot for his first victory at LPS this season. Shane Hollingsworth and Hunter Scheurenberg both made top-five finishes with Kenny Carmichael Sr. and Billy Puterbaugh rounding out the group.

Ray Humphrey overcame his early season motor problems to take his first win of the year, holding off Wes McClara and Paul Bumgardner in his Reeves Logging/Franklin built race car also sponsored by Hoosier Disposal and Recycling.

With little passing on a track that had taken quite a bit of rubber in windy conditions in Putnamville, Humphrey led from the outset, hugging the cushion and rolling to the UMP Modified victory.

Paragon and Bloomington Speedway regular, Chris Hillman was the superstock victor on Saturday night, holding off a familiar foe, Winston Howe for the victory in his Mooresville Welding/JCE Carburetor machine that also boasts Kay Hardwood Floors and Vest Contracting as sponsors.

No other results were available at presstime.

Chad Nolte was the bomber winner at Lincoln Park Speedway.
