Sign up by May 25 for road dust control

Monday, May 14, 2007

Putnam County residents who live on gravel roads can choose between calcium chloride treatment and oil treatment to control the dust in front of their homes.

The county highway department will be splitting the cost of the 300-feet treatments by paying $125 of the total cost of $250 for calcium chloride, or $135 of the total cost of $270 for oil treatment. The resident will be responsible for the remaining cost.

The roads will be graded and holes filled prior to the treatments.

DND Oil Co. will be providing the calcium chloride treatment. To sign up, residents need to visit the county highway department at 1624 W. CR 225 South, Greencastle, prior to May 25 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. To contact Danny Fisher directly, call 765-362-3774.

Loren Hoopengarner will provide the oil treatment. Call him at 653-1495.

Both applications are a one-time cost share with the county. The county will not be responsible for and will not share in the cost to have the materials reapplied if the resident is not satisfied with the product.
