Paul W. "Wally" Martin, 83, Indianapolis, died Friday at Eagle Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Greencastle, he was the son of Paul A. and Ruth M. (Fry) Martin.

A 1940 graduate of Greencastle High School, he attended Terre Haute Normal School. In the U. S. Merchant Marine in World War II, he served on missions in both Atlantic and Pacific oceans. He began a long career as a livestock broker at the Indianapolis Stockyards in 1946, including employment with the Kingan and the Speicher firms. He built a home on the city's near northwest side, living there starting in 1955.

He was a founding member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and he was active on church boards and committees for many years. He was a member and treasurer of the Indianapolis Scien-Tech Club for several years.

He married Anna Marie Eitel on June 12, 1946 in Greencastle. She died Dec. 20, 1973. He married Eunice S. (Mykrantz) Ehman on April 3, 1976. She survives.

Also surviving are son, Christian J. Martin and wife Claire, Newbury, N.H.; a stepson, Terry G. Ehmen and wife Constance, Indianapolis; two grandsons and two stegranddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and first wife.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church on Kessler Boulevard. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center, Speedway.
