James H. Kendall

James H. Kendall, 86, Greencastle, died Sunday. He was born on May 16, 1921 to Jesse and Goldie Custis Kendall.

He was a veteran of WW II and served in the Army. He married Beryl Surber April 30, 1946. She preceded him in death in June, 1989.

He was a retired truck driver from Motor Freight, Greencastle. He was an avid hunter and co-founder of the Deer Creek Coon Hunter

s Association and held a single engine Pilot

s License.

Surviving are children Melvin Kendall and wife Sheri of Greencastle, Terry Kendall and wife Pam, Greencastle, James F. Kendall and wife Joan, Tallahassee, Fla. and Carolyn Harris, Tallahas-see, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Sapp, an infant daughter, Thelma Jane Kendall; and son Ricky Kendall.

Funeral services will be at 1p.m. Wednesday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Paul Bowen officiating.

Internment will follow at Fillmore Cemetery.

Visitation will be two hours prior to services.
