Putnam County Jail

One person was booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

Tyler David Parker, 18, Fillmore, was booked in at 1:59 p.m. Tuesday for auto theft. He was arrested by Deputy Gregg Slover.

Greencastle Fire Dept.

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to several runs recently:

On Friday:

At 12:46 p.m., firefighters responded to 518 N. Indiana for a gas odor. They returned to station at 1:24 p.m.

At 2:23 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to CR 25 West to assist Operation Life with a lift. There were returned to station at 2:51 p.m.

At 5:17 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to 311 Locust St. for an alarm. They were disregarded and returned to station at 5:42 p.m.

At 8:32 p.m. firefighters responded to 1 Taylor Place for an alarm. They returned to station at 8:37 p.m.

On Saturday:

At 8:13 a.m. firefighters responded to 1226 S. Bloomington St. for a medical assist. They returned to station 9:14 a.m.

At 11:56 a.m. firefighters responded to a motor vehicle crash at the corner of Jackson & Washington Streets near the courthouse for a motor vehicle accident. They returned to station at 12:41 p.m.

On Sunday:

At 10:22 a.m. firefighters responded to 208 E. Olive St. for an alarm. They were disregarded at 10:31 a.m.

On Monday:

At 6:57 p.m. firefighters responded to 323 Redbud Lane. They were disregarded at 6:59 p.m.

City police

Area police are investigating a bomb scare against a Putnam County industry called in to police around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Greencastle Police Assistant Chief Brian Hopkins said that a Hendricks County emergency dispatcher received a call from the Marathon gas station on U.S. 40 in Belleville with the person stating that a bomb was located at

Dixie Chopper.

Since authorities did not know which Dixie Chopper location was intended by the caller, officers responded to the manufacturing facility at Fillmore, the financial center in Greencastle and the business center at the Putnam County Airport.

All locations were being checked Tuesday evening by bomb-sniffing dogs from the Indianapolis Metropol-itan Police Department.

Hopkins said that police do have some leads on who placed the call, and the investigation into the incident would continue.
