Tuesday, August 7, 2007

McCloud Nature Park is inviting guests of all ages to come to McCloud Nature Center for "Breakfast with the Birds" on Saturday, Aug. 11 starting at 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to enjoy a free continental breakfast while getting to know the birds of Indiana.

Seasoned birdwatchers and beginners are invited to have breakfast in the bird viewing area of the nature center while the park naturalist provides a brief introduction to bird identification at McCloud Nature Park. Following breakfast, the naturalist will lead a walk along the woodland trail to look for seasonal birds in the wild. Binoculars and field guides will be available for use on a first come, first serve basis.

"Breakfast with the Birds" is held on the second Saturday of the month throughout the year. Bird watching is the second most popular outdoor activity in Indiana. McCloud Nature Park is home to over 100 species of birds.

All activities are free of charge and open to the community. McCloud Nature Park is located five minutes south of North Salem on 8518 N. Hughes Rd.

The park is open from dawn until dusk, and the nature center is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information on park programs, call the park naturalist at (765) 676-5437 or visit our website at www.hendrickscountyparks.net.
