Police seek public help with homicide info

Wednesday, August 8, 2007

Homicide detectives investigating the June 25 death of a Putnam County man say they are still tracking down leads and conducting interviews.

No arrests have been made, but detectives with the Putnam County Sheriff's Department are standing by their belief that 55-year-old Albert O'Neal Jr. was shot and killed in his home on CR 900 East.

Lead Det. Pat McFadden told the BannerGraphic Wednesday that he and fellow Det. Mike Biggs have interviewed several people in the case and are still waiting on the results of several tests.

"The investigation is continuing to move forward, but we're in this phase that we're waiting for a lot of results regarding evidence, analysis and documents returned," McFadden said.

The pair recently traveled out of state in search of information regarding the case, McFadden said.

An autopsy conducted on O'Neal in late June showed he had been shot. However, police have not said how many times or what part of his body was shot.

Police are again asking the public for help in solving this case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's department at 653-3211.
