Putnam County Jail

Five people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* Rhonda Sue Hamilton, 46, Cloverdale, was booked in at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday for driving while intoxicated. She was arrested by ISP Deputy Phillip Lubbers.

* Beth Laureen Wilburn, 42, Fillmore, was booked in at 1:21 a.m. Wednesday on a writ of body attachment and failure to appear in court. She was arrested by Deputy Adam Hull.

* Jaryan Tyrell Gladden, 31, Fairforest, Ill., was booked in at 4:27 a.m. Wednesday for public intoxication and false reporting. He was arrested by DePauw officer Rick Keller.

* Amber Lynn Roberts, 29, Greencastle, was booked in at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday on an out-of-county hold. She was arrested by Lt. Danny Wallace.

* Karen Sue Woodcock, 36, Cloverdale, was booked in at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday on an out-of-county hold. She was arrested by Greencastle Officer Albert Epple.

Sheriff's Dept.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department investigated several recent accidents.

* At 8:50 p.m. Sunday, a car swerved to miss a deer and ran off the road in Madison Township.

Deputy Josh Boller reported that Tyleen Thomas, Greencastle, driving a 1997 Pontiac SFS, was southbound on CR 675 West when she swerved to miss a deer in the roadway. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-5,000.

* At 4:45 a.m. Monday, a car slid off the road and struck a tree on CR 1000 South near CR 775 West.

Deputy Tom Helmer reported that Mark McKinley, Terre Haute, driving a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo, was northeast-bound on CR 1000 South and forgot about a curve in the roadway. He applied his brakes, but the vehicle's wheels locked up and the car slid off the road, traveled across a yard and struck a blue spruce tree. The driver was not injured.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-5,000.

* At 9:35 a.m. Monday, two cars collided on CR 900 South at CR 450 East.

Lt. Danny Wallace reported that Crystal A. Simpson, Cloverdale, was northbound on CR 450 East, approaching the intersection with 900 South, and she looked to the left and didn't look right, striking a 2002 Ford Focus.

The driver of the Focus, Alice Mann, Cloverdale, stated she was traveling on 900 South and was making a left-hand turn onto CR 450 East, when Simpson struck her vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $5,000-10,000.

* At 10:35 p.m. Monday, a semi tractor-trailer struck a power line on West Ivanwald Drive.

Deputy Tom Helmer reported that Glen Murphy Jr., driving a 2001 Volvo 660, was eastbound on Ivanwald Drive when he saw flashes, thinking it was lightning. His wife was following in another vehicle and thought someone was shooting off fireworks. The semi drove into power lines, ripping them from a nearby home and causing damage to the home.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-5,000.
