Four people have been arrested in connection with a series of recent vehicle break-ins.

About 16 complaints were taken Friday that items such as car stereos, amps, speakers and assorted personal belongings were taken from vehicles along East Walnut Street.

DePauw University Police also reported several similar thefts.

Greencastle Assistant Chief Brian Hopkins reported that at 2:15 p.m. Friday, one of the victims told police he saw two people loading what he believed to be his belongings, as well as other items, into the trunk of a car at 607 E. Walnut.

GPD officers arrived and after getting consent to look in the trunk of the vehicle, they found a large amount of suspected stolen goods. Two female subjects were taken into custody for possession of stolen property. Consent was also given to search the residence, and additional stolen property was recovered from the home by the officers on the scene -- GPD Officer Ed Wilson, Capt. Mike Hanlon, Officer Darrel Bunten, Officer Travis DeLaGrange, and DePauw Officers Angie Nally and Matt Demmings.

Evidence from recent, as recovered by the Greencastle Police Department. Four arrests have been made in the investigation.

Information on two male suspects who committed the thefts was also received, and those two suspects were later interviewed at the GPD station by Officer Wilson. Both males provided full confessions on the break-ins and thefts, and they were booked into the Putnam County Jail for the thefts.

Facing criminal charges are Terry Maynard, 18, and Robert Sims, 18, both having 12 counts of theft, along with Juifria A. Maynard, 20, and Tanielle L. Maynard, 18, both facing possession of stolen property.

All property stolen was recovered, except for a small amount of cash and two wallets, from the vehicle and a garage at 607 E. Walnut St. Additional items were found hidden under the porch at 503 Main St., which is the home of one suspect's mother.

The majority of the property was returned to its owners, however, several items remain at the GPD station and police have not identified a victim missing those items. Anyone who had an overnight break-in to their vehicle last Thursday or Friday is asked to fill out a report at the GPD station. For more information, call 653-2925.
