GHS boys' tennis ties for second place

NASHVILLE -- Greencastle tennis player Brennan Burks turned in two wins Saturday at the Brown County Tourney to win the No. 2 doubles portion of the tournament and lead his team to a second-place tie in the event.

Brown County won the event, and Owen Valley tied with the Tiger Cubs for third. Brownstown Central finished fourth.

Burks turned in wins over Owen Valley and Brown County to win the event. GHS coach Terry Ross was pleased with his senior's accomplishment.

"Brennan Burks had a good performance for the day and won two very competitive matches," Ross said. "He is now 5-0 for the season."

At No. 1 singles, Sam Hirt finished third with a win over Owen Valley. No. 3 singles Eric Warren was also third, defeating his Brown County foe.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Seth Heithaus and Tye Fauvergue finished third with a win over Brownstown Central. The No. 2 team of Logan Grzesiek and Xander Hazel was also third, defeating Brownstown Central.

The Tiger Cubs will be back on the courts at 5 p.m. Tuesday when they travel to Speedway.
