Cloverdale voting sites moved

In an effort to save money, the Putnam County Clerk's Office has decided to combine all three Cloverdale polling stations into a single location for the Nov. 6 municipal election.

The three poll stations will now be in the Cloverdale High School Cafetorium, 205 E Market St, said Election Clerk Stacia Gibson.

The site will have all six voting machines, two per precinct, that are usually sent to Cloverdale, though fewer poll clerks will be needed, Gibson said.

The machines for each precinct will be labeled and election workers will be able to point any voters who are unsure of their precinct to the correct machines, she said.

The high school was the logical place for the polling site since it has the most parking and largest space available in town, Gibson said.

The move will save Cloverdale, which must pay the county to run the election, about $900 and also eliminate the possibility of voters going to wrong polling site, said County Clerk Marty Watts.
