Clover 8th grade defeats North

CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale eighth grade football team defeated county rival North Putnam 22-16 Thursday evening in what Clover coach Billy Boyette called "a hard fought game by both teams."

The coach continued, "I was so impressed by the play by both teams last night."

Cloverdale's Alex Law ran for 169 yards on 14 carries, scoring the first two touchdowns along the way. The Clovers' Gordon Brinkman threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Trevor Lockwood for the winning score.

"The defensive line played very hard , as Rathal Moore had 10 tackles," Boyette said.

The Clovers host Monrovia at 6 p.m. Thursday.
