Cougars outlast Rockville

BAINBRIDGE -- The North Putnam volleyball team battled the Rockville Rox for five game Thursday night, ultimately winning 20-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-21 and 15-10.

After dropping the first two games, the Cougars could have easily packed it in but North came out and took three games from the Rox.

"We found a lot of heart tonight. I never saw a point where we were down and out, even when we were down 2 games," Cougar coach Michelle Spencer said.

Taylor Alles recorded five digs, nine kills and one assist block, while Kayla Green added six digs, six kills, one assist blocks and five aces. Ashley Doyle contributed 12 digs and three kills and Logan Doyle tallied four kills, three digs, one assist, one block and two aces.

Carlye McGaughey had seven digs, three kills and three aces, with Kacy Wendling adding 14 assists, four digs, one kills, one assist block and one ace.

"Rockville has some extremely talented players, and we are excited to show that we can beat teams of that caliber. Hopefully, we can take the momentum from this win into County Tourney on Saturday," Spencer commented.

The Cougar junior varsity squad lost 25-14 and 25-24.

The Cougars will compete in the Putnam County Tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday
