Undefeated season ends for GHS girls

BRAZIL -- The Greencastle Lady Tiger Cubs Soccer teams traveled to Brazil Saturday to play the Northview Knights. A late goal from Northview brought the undefeated season by the Tiger Cubs to an end. Northview won the game, 3-2.

In the first ten minutes of the game, goalie Micki Ehrhardt denied four shots from the Knights. The score remained 0-0.

Then Jamie Patterson made a pass to Hannah Spencer setting up for the Cubs' first goal. GHS led 1-0.

Six minutes later, the Lady Knights evened the score on a corner kick. Another score nine minutes later made it 2-1, Northview.

The half ended at this score.

The second half started and Greencastle took 2 shots in the first ten minutes with neither finding the net.

However, Grace Fisher made a crossing pass to Hannah Spencer who headed the ball into the net. This evened the score 2-2 with less than 20 minutes left in the game.

Both teams battled hard back and forth, and the Knights took a shot which deflected off another player and went in the goal.

With only 1:38 left in the game, the Lady Tiger Cubs could not create another goal.

The Lady Tiger Cubs will be back in action on at 5:30 p.m. today against West Vigo.

The junior varsity team beat the Knights with a score of 9-0. The scoring was passed around through seven different girls. Sam Gordon, Taylor Neumann, Hannah Deer, Erika Collins, Erica Soster and Ashley Smith all scored one goal each. Molli Parker scored her first hat trick.

The JV team will be back in action on Saturday against Southmont for a one-half game following the varsity match. The varsity game will start at 1 p.m.
