Donald L. "Don" Hudkins, 79, Sebastian, Fla., died Wednesday at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Fla.

Born in Fulton County, had lived in Sebastian for 18 years, moving from Plainfield.

He ad been a superintendent with the Indiana Department of Correction.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a graduate of Tri-State College in Angola, attended Concordia Lutheran Church in Barefoot Bay, Fla., and was a member of the Elks, VFW and the Studebaker Club.

Surviving are a son, Michael L. Hudkins, Orlando, Fla.; daughter Renee M. Gunter, Sebastian, Fla.; brothers Richard, George John and Virgil Hudkins, all of Rochester; sister Mary Ellen George, Kimberling City, Mo.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Julia "Judy" Hudkins.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, Fla., with Rev. Grant Kilps officiating. Burial will be at Sebastian Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
