100 Book Club kicks off for Central students

Central Elementary students were in for a big surprise at the kick-off for the 100 Book Club.

Sarah Yekinni, a Colts cheerleader, was there to give the kids a pep talk about the importance of reading. Along with Sarah, several South Putnam High School football players and cheerleaders were there to motivate the kids to read, read, read!

The PTO at Central Elementary sponsors the 100 Book Club each year. It is a program designed to encourage reading for fun. Kids receive awards for reading 25, 50, 75, and 100 books.

Tracy Hernandez, this year s coordinator, has initiated the formation of a youth committee, made up of South Putnam High School students, to help with the club. They will be putting out a newsletter, hosting meetings for students in the club, and helping keep track of students progress.

Youth committee members include Bri Bartley, Meghan Canary, Eric Drawbaugh, Hunter Edwards, Conner Frame, Antonio Hernandez, Lindsey Hettich, Whitney Higgins, Sarah Holloway, Shelby Johnston, Colby Judy, Adam Masters, Melissa Miles, Ben Parker, Derek Tomaw, Paige Truxal, Amanda Way, and Brittany Wood.
