2007 Senior Fair checks health Oct. 2

Thursday, September 27, 2007

The 2007 Senior Health Fair will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

Flu and pneumonia shots will be available from the Visiting Nurse Service. Individuals with Medicare Part B as their primary insurance must bring their card to get a shot at no cost. For others the cost is $25 for flu shots and $40 for pneumonia shots.

The fair will also feature great entertainment, good food, door prizes and cash drawing plus lots of important information for seniors.

A new procedure is in place this year to help make sure everyone has a good experience at this year's event.

Senior Center Director, Jim Stevens told the BannerGraphic, "There is plenty of flu vaccine available and everyone who wants a shot will get one. We have put a new procedure to prevent people from having to stand in line at this year's fair."

Upon entering the building, seniors need to fill out a form at which time they will receive a number. When your number is called, you may get your shot.

While people are waiting their turn they can visit vendor booths, eat and register for door prizes. There will be plenty of seating available.

Cash drawings of $100, $50, and $25 will be given out as prizes in a drawing.
