Cougar MS splits with Mustangs

VEEDERSBURG -- The North Putnam Middle School football teams traveled to Fountain Central Tuesday evening and split a pair of games with the Mustangs.

The Cougar seventh grade fell to the Mustangs 24-20 to drop to 4-2 on the year. North came from behind twice but lost in the final seconds of a very exciting game. Cougar standouts were Jake Haste, Garth Wishert, Trevor Smith and Austin Day.

The eighth grade defeated Fountain Central 30-20 to improve to 2-4. Scoring came from Kolton Everts, Tyler Shorter, Jake Smerage and Wes Ensor. Top defensive players were Jake Worth, Nate Bryan, Hunger Logan and Nathaniel Crosby.

Both North Putnam teams will travel to South Putnam Junior High on at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
