BRATTAIN

Wendell I. Brattain, 80, Greencastle, died Saturday morning at Danville Regional Health.

Born in Parke County, he was the son of James Eldon and Hila (Cornwell) Brattain.

A 1944 graduate of Greencastle High School, he was a retired mail carrier and a long-time farmer in Putnam County. He was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodges of Bainbridge and Greencastle, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, several swine associations and an active supporter of Putnam County 4-H.

He married Shirley (Herbert) Brattain on May 4, 1951. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Marsha Brattain; two sons, W. Kent Brattain and wife Kim, and Marshall Brattain, all of Greencastle; sister Kathryn Singleton, Davis, Calif., and three grandchildren.

His parents and daughter Pamela Brattain preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor J. Daeshner officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Masonic service is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday.
