BREAKING NEWS: Alexander says he intends to plead guilty to federal theft charges
Wednesday, November 14, 2007
George Alexander, the former Putnam County Sheriff's Department ombudsman accused of mishandling funds, announced Tuesday his intention to plead guilty to federal theft charges.
The plea came on the same day that he was formally charged in federal court with stealing $45,000 in federal grant money while he worked at the Sheriff's Department.
Alexander was arrested in May near Rockville after several days on the run following the State Police announcing that they were charging him with the theft.
The feds took over the case last month.
