Terry Dale, 61, Greencastle, died Friday morning at the Richard Roudebush VA Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, he was the son of Clair and Audrey (Nordeen) Dale.

He was a 1964 graduate of South West City High School in South West City, Mo., and served in the U.S. Navy until June 1967.

He graduated from the Water and Wastewater Technical School on June 25, 1971, working in the field of public water supply and wastewater treatment. He served 10 years as water superintendent for the City of Greencastle, and eight years as water superintendent for Great Bend, Kan. He was an Indiana AWWA Central District Officer in 2007, and received the Municipal Operator of the Year Award in March 1992 from the Kansas Rural Water Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Greencastle.

He married Sally Winchester on April 23, 1971. She survives.

Also surviving are his wife, Sally Dale; daughter Laura Crowder and husband Shaun, Greencastle; sister Carle Oathout and husband Gary, Wasilla, Alaska; stepmother Verl Walker, Council Bluff, Iowa; stepsister Joanne Street, Omaha, Neb.; stepbrother John Street, Ponca City, Neb.; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Glenn Walker, and sister Judy Barton.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Clyde McCammack officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday.
