CASSIDA

Melvin E. "Hoppy" Cassida, 77, Greencastle, died Wednesday.

Born in Cunot, he was the son of Ezra B. and Inez V. (Stwalley) Cassida.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He began working at Frosty Burke Service Station in Cloverdale, and was then employed at International Harvester in Indianapolis.

He retired from IBM Corp. in 1986 after 32 years of service. He had been a press operator. He was a member of American Legion Post 58 in Greencastle.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Patsy R. (Sheese) Cassida; a brother, Kenneth A. Cassida and wife Eileen, Indianapolis; a sister, Helen L. Pigg, West Lafayette; a nephew, two nieces, a great-nephew, and two great-nieces.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
