GMS 8th graders split with Tuttle

The Greencastle eighth grade boys' basketball A team fell to Tuttle (Crawfordsville), 48-43 Monday.

The Tiger Cubs trailed most of the first half but rallied in the third to take a 35-33 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Tuttle outscored GMS 15-8 in the final period to grab the victory. With the loss, Greencastle moves to 4-3 on the season.

Nick Hutcheson led the way for Greencastle with 17 points, while Hunter Mitchell added eight. Trevor Huber scored seven, with Dustin Law adding five, Brad Haussin scoring four and Hank Spencer contributing two.

The GMS B team held on and defeated Tuttle 27-25.

Tuttle steadily chipped away at the Tiger Cub lead throughout the game and poured in 11 points in the final quarter to come with two.

Nolan Sappenfield scored 10 points to lead Greencastle, with Michael Phillips adding six points. Ryan Battin chipped in three and Brad Boyers, Andy Bell and Mitch Ball all scored two points each. The Tiger Cubs evened their season record at 3-3 with the win.

The GMS eighth grade A and B teams will travel to North Clay at 6 p.m. Thursday.
