Putnam County Jail

Ten people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* John Alan Stratton, 45, Indianapolis, was booked in at 8:09 a.m. Saturday for public intoxication. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Howard Douglas Gray, 38, Greencastle, was booked in at 8:12 p.m. Saturday for receiving stolen property. He was arrested by Greencastle Officer Eric Vaughan.

* William Bruce McGathey, 44, Greencastle, was booked in at 10:11 p.m. Saturday for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He was released on his own recognizance at 3:34 p.m. Monday.

* Becky Ann Dodson, 49, Lebanon, was booked in at 4:11 a.m. Monday for residential entry and public intoxication. She was arrested by Officer Vaughan.

* Ernie Dale Phillips, 22, Greencastle, was booked in at 11:29 a.m. Monday for possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested by Greencastle Officer Charles Inman.

* Debra J. Robinson, 45, Roachdale, was booked in at 2:03 Tuesday for disorderly conduct, neglect of a dependent, false reporting or informing and resisting law enforcement. She was arrested by Deputy Craig Sibbitt.

* Robert A. Vansickle, 35, Greencastle, was booked in by jail staff on a court order at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

* Charles Doolin, 45, Greenfield, was booked in at 11:38 a.m. Wednesday on a petition to revoke probation. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Jeremy McCormack, 27, Anderson, was booked in at 12:44 p.m. Wednesday on a petition to revoke probation. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Langley E. Reed, 40, was booked in at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday for driving a vehicle never licensed. He was arrested at PCJ.

Sheriff's Dept.

Four accidents were investigated recently by the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

* At 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, a car hit a deer on CR 700 South at CR 475 East.

Deputy Gregg Slover reported that Lindsey Hettich, Cloverdale, was driving a 2003 Dodge Neon on CR 700 South when the deer entered the roadway and she was unable to avoid hitting the animal.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-5,000.

* At 10:10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, a deer hit a car on U.S. 36 near CR 490 West.

Sgt. Tom Helmer reported that Linda Reynolds, Clinton, was driving a 2005 Toyota Prius westbound when a deer running north from a field entered the roadway and into her path of travel.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-5,000.

* At 4:11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, a car struck a tree in the roadway on U.S. 40 near CR 725 West.

Deputy Craig Sibbitt reported that Christine D. Patterson, Brazil, was driving a 1994 Mazda van eastbound and did not see a tree that had fallen in the roadway due to winds. The car had to be towed from the scene.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-5,000.

* At 6:23 a.m. Dec. 24, a truck overturned and spilled its cargo on Ind. 243.

Deputy Adam Hull reported that George Gilbert, Terre Haute, was driving a 1996 International truck, was coming down a hill and his brakes failed, causing him to lose control and spill in a curve. he was not injured seriously.

Damage was estimated at $5,000-10,000.
