South Putnam rolls past GHS, takes lead in high school bowling standings
South Putnam handed Greencastle its first loss of the season (16-4) Thursday evening in the Putnam County Bowling Conference at Alex Alleys.
The victory jumped South into first place by a narrow half-point margin. Senior J.T. Chadd led the way with a 428 series and was aided by some timely bowling from Adam Hammond, Nick Bright and Travis Giannechinni. South edged GHS by 20 pins in the first game and gained confidence to win the second game by 100 pins.
In the other match, Cloverdale defeated North Putnam 18-2. Nick Monds and Jeff Williams led the Clovers with series of 313 and 277, respectively.
The next bowling meet is 4:15 p.m. Thursday. Sectionals are approaching on Jan. 30 and 31. Regionals will be Feb. 9.
