Habitat to host Saturday meeting

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

The Putnam County Habitat for Humanity will be hosting its annual meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16.

The event will take place at the Peace Lutheran Church at 1421 Bloomington St., Greencastle. Brunch will be provided.

Habitat for Humanity is a faith-based non-denominational organization. Its mission is to help eliminate poverty housing in our community.

PCHFH has provided the opportunity for 18 families to acquire low cost new or rehabbed homes with interest free mortgages in Putnam County. The support in building these homes has been tremendous.

The organization is now seeking individuals to fill board positions, as well as committee positions. There are also many opportunities for people who just want to help on certain projects.

We have needs in construction, administration, fundraising and many other areas.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend the annual meeting to learn more and meet our board of directors.

The group is looking for area gospel music groups to perform at the third annual Music Festival on April 26. Groups are welcome to set up booths with games for the spring carnival on the same day.

Anyone who cannot make it to the meeting, but is interested in volunteering or learning more, can call the office at 653-5360 or Barbara Hill at (765) 630-5186.
