North Putnam swimmers split with Danville

DANVILLE -- The North Putnam Middle School swim teams visited Danville Wednesday evening and earned a split with the Warriors. The Cougar boys came away with a 104-82 win. The North Putnam girls fell 114-62.

For the boys, Tyler Shorter led the way with a new record in the 100 IM. Shorter swam a 1:15.52 in the event. He also won the 100 backstroke and was on the winning 200 medley relay and 200 free relay teams.

Likewise, Jared James won four events, swimming on the two winning relay teams and winning the 200 free and 50 free.

The winning medley relay team was Jacob Hendershot, Shorter, James and Hunter Logan. The winning 200 free relay team was Joey Lehr, James, Shorter and Logan.

Logan also won the 100 free, while Hendershot took the 400 free.

Michael Zuver won the 50 free and Zach Moore took diving.

On the girls' side, Lacy Witt set a new record in the 400 free with a 5:38.01. Witt also won the 200 free.

Caroline Byrd also won two individual events, taking both the 100 IM and 50 fly.

The 200 free relay team of Halsey Foltz, Witt, Byrd and Michelle Harper was also victorious.
