Summitt-Campbell runs for re-election

Stephanie Summitt-Campbell has announced her bid for re-election for County Auditor in the May Primary. She is running unopposed on the Republican ballot.

Summitt-Campbell brings 12 years of experience and knowledge to the Auditor's Office. Prior to being elected Auditor four years ago, she held the following positions in the office: plat, tax, payroll and claims deputy.

Summitt-Campbell believes in providing courteous service to the public. She encourages her staff to go the extra mile to help the customers.

"I am currently researching ways to both improve the efficiency of the Auditor's Office and to save taxpayer's dollars. One of those improvements is offering payroll direct deposit. There will not be a fee assessed to the county by the bank and we will eliminate a lot of the expense of purchasing payroll checks," Summitt-Campbell stated.

In the last few years, a new challenge faced by the county is assessed value data compliancy.

"I have been working diligently with the County Assessor and our software company to get the needed information to the Dept. of Local Government Finance. We are working through the issues and getting our tax years approved," Summitt-Campbell informed.

"To be the County Auditor, you need experience, endurance and the ability to keep up with the fast paced job. I am open-minded to making changes that would benefit the office."

Summitt-Campbell is a 1996 graduate of South Putnam High School. She has a degree in computer science. She is a life-long resident of Putnam County.

Her parents are Michael and Jeanette (Kirton) Summitt who reside in Washington Township.

She and her husband, Glen, reside in Greencastle along with their children Dakota, Cheyenna and Trentan.
