15th-ranked Tiger women's swim team earns four All-American awards

OXFORD, Ohio -- The 15th-ranked DePauw women's swim team picked up All-America awards in four different events after the first of three days of competition at the NCAA Division III Championships at Miami University.

The 200-yard freestyle relay of Katie Doogan, Katie Massey, Amanda Stier and Maddison Hamil finished fifth in 1:36.62 to earn all-America honors.

DePauw's 400 medley relay of Doogan, Hamil, Stier and Massey also earned all-America distinction with a sixth-place finish in 3:55.80.

Doogan earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 200 individual medley in 2:07.72 as did Hamil in the 50 free in 24.26 seconds.

In Thursday morning's prelims, the Tigers got off to a quick start by setting four school records.

The 200-yard freestyle relay finished fourth in the prelims in a school-record time of 1:36.03, while 400 medley relay was seventh in a school-record 3:55.80. Both relays will swim in tonight's finals.

Doogan earned a spot in the consolation finals with a 10th place showing in the 200 individual medley in a school-record 2:06.25. Hamil also qualified for the consolation finals by finishing 15th in the 50 free in 24.20 seconds.

Callie Boehme finished 23rd in the 500 free, but set a school record with a time of 5:06.50, while Stier was 32nd in the 50 free in 24.69 seconds.

Competition continues on Friday and Saturday.
