City police

Greencastle Police investigated two accidents recently.

* On March 20, at 8:55 a.m., Katherine Johnson, 17, Galesburn, Ill., was driving east on Shadowlawn Ave. and was blinded by the sun, causing her to hit a city utility truck parked in the eastbound lane with the yellow light bar activated. Officers Albert Epple, assisted by Capt. Mike Hanlon, investigated the accident.

Damage was estimated between $1,000-2,500.

* On March 22, at 12:05 p.m., Sgt. Christ Jones, assisted by Capt. Mike Hanlon, investigated an accident on East Washington and Locust streets. Marquis Bynum, 21, Columbus, Ga., was westbound on Washington when Faith Capps, 37, Greencastle, pulled out in front of his vehicle. She was transported to Putnam county Hospital.

Damage was estimated between $2,500-5,000.

Meanwhile, city police issued two tickets:

* On March 21, at 1 p.m., Robert Noble, 36, South Boston, Mass., was ticketed by Officer Darrel Bunten on Wood and Seminary streets for not having a license.

* On March 22, at 10:31 p.m., Williams Cantleberry Jr., 43, Greencastle was ticketed by Reserve Officer Zach Minnick for having a false or fictitious registration.

Sheriff's Dept.

Two accidents were reported from March 19.

* Keith Harvey, 56, Greencastle, was southbound on CR 400 South at 5:18 a.m. He said he lost control of his vehicle on black ice. The vehicle left the roadway, just missing a power pole but doing some damage to the bracewire as well as a fence.

* Tracy Lynette, 25, Greencastle, was eastbound on CR 225 North in her 2001 Dodge Durango. While approaching a corner, an unknown gray-colored van traveling westbound entered into Tracey's line of travel. At that time she had no choice but to drive into a ditch on the south side of the roadway. She avoided making a head-on collision by driving into the ditch, however the van hit her drivers side then continued westbound.

Greencastle Fire Dept.

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one run on Monday.

* At 3:33 p.m., firefighters provided lift assistance with Operation Life at 304 S. Indiana St. They returned to the station at 3:57 p.m.
