North baseball completes sweep of Greencastle

Thursday, April 3, 2008

North Putnam baseball is finding early season success in the battery of Griffen Dahlstrom and Jordan Berry. The only question is which one will start the game on the mound and which behind the plate.

After Monday's win, in which Berry came from behind the plate to relieve Dahlstrom, Berry started on the mound Wednesday, with Dahlstrom relieving him in the sixth inning.

Berry picked up his second win, as the Cougars defeated the Tiger Cubs 8-3.

Berry pitched five-and-one-third innings with seven strikeouts while giving up five hits and three runs. Dahlstrom picked up four strikeouts in one-and-two-thirds innings for the Cougars (2-0, 2-0 WCC).

"Just like Monday, we got good pitching from Dahlstrom and Berry," North coach Norm Fish said.

Trey Ford pitched four innings and took the loss for Greencastle (0-2, 0-2 WCC).

J.T. Francies went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI for North. Dahlstrom was also 2-for-4 with one RBI. David Church was 1-for-2 with two RBI and Tyler Watson was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Kyle Alcorn, Kyle Rooker and Berry each picked up one hit for North.

No offensive stats were available for Greencastle.
