The Putnam County Museum's newest director isn't wasting any time introducing new ideas.

Jennifer Ro took over for Stacey Clingler back in August as the executive director of the Putnam County Museum. She is originally from Battle Creek, Mich. but is no stranger to the Hoosier state.

Ro acquired her undergraduate degree in History from Ball State before going to George Washington University for her Museum Studies degree. She also has interned at the Smithsonian.

Her first few months were spent trying to transition from the prior director. Now she is beginning her own plans with the museum trying to upgrade the facility to bring in more visitors.

"I want people to see the museum as more than just a place with things," Ro said. "A museum is more of a community organization that can bring people together."

Her first major exhibit was the Art Walk Exhibit that comprises artwork from local school children.

She is currently in the planning phase of a Putnam County Religious exhibit that will show all the different religions represented in the past and present in the county.

Ro also plans to incorporate interactive stations in hope of bringing in a younger crowd for educational purposes.
