Rain forest coming to Central Elementary on Monday

Saturday, April 12, 2008

South Putnam's Central Elementary School will turn into a rain forest Monday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. Central, Cloverdale and Reelsvile Elementary schools get to experience the rain forest at each of their schools on that date.

Thanks to the South Putnam Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) the comedy animal show "Live on Stage, The Rain Forest," will be at each of the three elementary schools during the day and finish with a show open to the public in the evening.

This fascinating comedy animal show features the sights and sounds of the tropical rain forest including exotic birds, monkeys, alligators, jungle cats and snakes.

Founder and current director of the show Mike Kohlrieser uses the show to increase awareness of problems in the tropical rainforests.

Under the umbrella of the non-profit organization Understanding Wildlife, Kohlrieser takes his show to schools and other organizations in an effort to inspire individuals to get involved and make a better world for everyone, including animals.

Admission to the evening show is $5, children under three are free. Tickets will be available at the door. Central Elementary is located at 1888 E. U.S. Highway 40, Greencastle.
