CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale boys' golf team was narrowly defeated by visiting Northview on Monday night in a three-way match with Shakamak. Cloverdale finished with a total of 171, three strokes behind the Knights and a whopping 54 shots in front of Shakamak.

Michael Glassburn led Cloverdale with a 41 and was followed by Sean Rhine with a 42, Chris Arnold with a 43, Mike Wellington with a 45, Jacob Saunders with 51 and Keith Hathorn with a 53.

"We played a decent round, but not as well as we should have," CHS head coach Doug Wokoun said. We are making mental errors that have to be corrected. It was a tight match and little things get magnified in that circumstance.

With a week before they return to action, Wokoun hopes that a week of hard practice can help the Clovers get where they need to be.

"Our progress is coming in fits and starts," he said. "We have the rest of this week to practice, and hopefully we can address some of the course management and focus issues that are holding us back. Today was an improvement over Saturday, both in our play and the conditions. However, we have tough opponents coming up and we need to improve to have a chance to compete with them."

Cloverdale (3-1) will travel to Old Hickory to face North Putnam at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
