WAVELAND -- The North Putnam golf team turned in an impressive second-place finish at the Southmont Invitational Saturday at Turkey Run Golf Club.

The Cougars shot a 324 to finish 14 shots behind champions Warren Central.

Even with the strong finish at a tough course, coach Dave Fox said he felt like the team did not play up to its full potential.

Cougar senior J.J. Burns was third medalist with a 76. Patrick Byrd was next with a 79. Jeremy Redman came next with an 84. Austin Malayer and Aaron Vondersaar each fired a 75.

North Putnam hosts Cloverdale at Old Hickory at 4:30 p.m. today.

  • Hats off to this group of fine young men. They are a joy to watch. Playing a school as large as Warren Central might be intimidating but, these young men seem to have handled it quite well!!!
